Fu\u00e9 fundada por dos socios que en aquel entonces llevaban a cabo operaciones de mecanizado en unas instalaciones con maquinaria convencional, y se dedicaban principalmente a la realizaci\u00f3n de recubrimientos de galvanizado de piezas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el transcurso de los a\u00f1os, las dos actividades principales se separaron y la denominaci\u00f3n IME continu\u00f3 existiendo hasta el d\u00eda de hoy. Durante la primera etapa de esta nueva trayectoria, IME se dedic\u00f3 a la fabricaci\u00f3n de bisagras para los tranv\u00edas de Barcelona, y m\u00e1s tarde pas\u00f3 a producir maquinaria para la industria del papel y del envasado.
